How to turn an idea into a great story
- Give your lead a want. "I need to find my sister before dawn" plays better than "I explore the city".
- Add one secret. Someone in the cast should know something you don't.
- Pick a tone. Cozy, tense, funny or dark: say it in your first message and the narrator follows.
- Act, don't summarize. "I slide the note under her door" beats "I try to talk to her".
